Summary

The Adlib Rendition Server is a document conversion and transformation platform. It is used to render documents into a long term archive format such as pdf/a. It can be used by different third party plattforms to render documents e.g. OpenText Content Server.

During its transformation-process the rendition server queue stores the information about the documents that need to be transformed. Several reasons can cause the process to get stuck and the rendition queue being filled.

Sources of Errors

Case A. A document is write protected by a password and caoont be opened by Adlib.

Case B. A documents defined print area is not set correctly.

A WebReport checks the Error-folder of Adlib.

Bad-Case:

Solution

Case A.

  • remove the document from the rendition queue as it will never be rendered by Adlib.

    • open D:\ADLIBHOME\Generic Connector\Adlib.GenericConnector.exe

    • remove the file in question

  • restart the rendition-process

Case B.

  • get the document-id from the file that is causing the problem

  • search the file within the leading application

  • remove the file from the rendition queue

  • open the file within the leading application, define the print area and submit it again for being rendered

Cleaning up Error-folder:

Backup the files in a temporary folder for being processed at a later time (to be described).

Rerun the monitoring check.
